In the dim glow of late night scrolling it is easy to get lost in the perfect world of social media to stop the screen lights out with flawless selfies, luxurious vacations and stylish outfits. Influencers present your life like their straight out of a dream making everyday life dull by comparison.

One notable case is that of the late YouTube Rebecca “ Becca” Brown. Known for her vibrant beauty tutorials in glamorous lifestyle belongs whose online persona was just perfect. She showcased vacation luxurious shopping sprees, a picture perfect life that seemed almost too good to be true. However, behind the dazzling facade, Becca struggled with severe depression and anxiety. Her carefully maintained social media presence was a contrast to her private battles which she really discussed publicly.

Story came to light after her untimely death which shocked her millions of followers and spiked a broader conversation about the pressure of maintaining a flawless online image.

Behind every curated post there are ordinary moments and personal struggles that really make it to the feed. Influencers like Ariana Grande and Jeffree Star have shared their own struggles with anxiety and mental health revealing that behind the filters and fleshy content day to face pressure and insecurities.

The quest for perfection on social media can lead to unrealistic expectations and lower self esteem seeing a seemingly perfect life everyday can make people feel inadequate as if they are feeling because they don't measure up to this idealized version of reality. This constant comparison can be damaging. To counter  this, it is important to remember that social media often shows just a highlight reel , not the full picture. Embracing imperfections and celebrating our real experiences help us see the true beauty in life!
